Radiohead’s Old News

So Radiohead are releasing their eighth album “The King Of Limbs” digitally this Saturday. Following the digital release, the album will also be released as the “”the world’s first newspaper album,” a departure from the pay-whatever-you-want online release of “In Rainbows” in 2007 which at the time was hailed as the future of music distribution. Radiohead are instead choosing to pay homage to the dying artform of the printed word, but their claim to be the first isn’t exactly spot-on. You may have been first then but you’re not the first now.

Other newspaper albums include “Thick As A Brick” by Jethro Tull, “In Full Regalia” by The Ark and “Some Time In New York” by John frickin’ Lennon & Yoko bloody Ono.

The King Of Limbs is released digitally this Saturday the 19th, followed by a physical release on March 28th and the Newspaper edition on May 9th.
